“The Wall Magicians are exceptional. They’ve done multiple projects for our home, including a stunning fireplace surround and feature wall that make the space feel completely unique. Gabriel’s passion and drive as a business owner shine through in every detail, and Greg’s talent for guiding color and texture choices made the whole experience seamless. Our home feels so one-of-a-kind thanks to them. We’ll undoubtedly be working with them again!”

  • “…effortless warmth and a sense of calm…”

    Olga

    See the project

“I love how soft, low lighting catches the delicate variations in depth, casting gentle shadows that mirror the movement of stepping up the stairs. Roman Clay creates a velvety, natural finish that looks incredibly sophisticated next to the warm tones of the wooden staircase and the metallic sheen of the wall art. This earthy texture brings an effortless warmth and a sense of calm to the entire entryway. Thank you Wall Magicians for this wonderful transformation!”

Tips from the studio

  1. Light a room in layers

One ceiling fixture flattens a room. Mix soft overall light, lamps at eye level, and small spotlights or LED channels on what you love, and the room turns warm, calm, and lived in, with every wall finish awake.

  2. Try a bold palette in the powder room first

Love a palette that feels a little outside your comfort zone? Start in the powder room. A small room loves all the attention it can get, and you will see the colors come together at full strength. If you love it there, carry it through the house.

  3. Turn built-ins into a gallery

Built-ins finished in clay or stone-look plaster show your best pieces like a museum shelf, give the eye a place to land, and become the conversation at every dinner party. Light them from within, and they glow at night.

  4. Start with limewash

Never lived with a mineral wall? Limewash is the gentlest way in: soft, cloudy color that moves with the light all day and asks very little of you.

  5. Let a pattern turn the corner

A geometric pattern that runs past a corner onto the next wall, or up onto the ceiling, blurs the room’s edges and reshapes it to the eye: a low room grows taller, a narrow hall wider.

  6. A calm wall behind your desk

A clay or limewash wall behind your desk reads beautifully on video: soft depth, no glare, and a calm that follows you into every call.

  7. A lacquered front door

A front door in high-gloss lacquer, in a deep green or oxblood, greets every guest with a mirror shine. It is the smallest project with the biggest first impression.

  8. Start with the wall everyone faces

Not ready to finish a whole room? Start with the fireplace. Every chair already faces it, so one finish there changes how the whole room feels, and the rest can follow when you are ready.

  9. Give a tall, empty wall some architecture

A large blank wall reads as unfinished. Wainscoting or a grid of panels adds shadow lines and rhythm, and with limewash or clay above it, the room looks as if it had always been there.

  10. Deep color on the window wall

Put the deepest color on the wall with the windows, and the view becomes a painting in a dark frame, while the other walls stay bright.

  11. Drench a small room in one color

Color the walls, the trim, and the ceiling in one deep shade, and a small room stops feeling small. It feels deliberate, wrapped, and quiet, like the inside of a jewelry box.

  12. Choose a dark made for mineral walls

Deep colors are the hardest to get right in lime. The Turn, our own collection, is built around its darks, so a moody room starts from colors made for limewash and plaster.

  13. A ceiling in a surprising color

A pale sky-blue porch ceiling, a terracotta dining room ceiling, a painted sky over a nursery: a colorful ceiling is the least expected thing in a room, and the one people remember.

  14. Plaster follows a curve

Arches, curved niches, and rounded corners are where plaster shines: it wraps a curve in one continuous skin, with no seams and no edges to hide.

  15. Decide where the eye goes first

Every room needs one focal point: a fireplace, a lit niche, a plaster hood. Give it the richest finish and the best light, and keep the walls around it quieter.

  16. One warm cream above every room

Ceilings and trim in one warm cream, carried through the house, tie rooms of very different colors into one calm story.

  17. A pearl ceiling by lamplight

A pearlescent paint on the ceiling catches lamplight and turns it soft and silvery, like moonlight inside the room.

  18. One story through every room

A whole-home plan gives each room its own mood and still lets the house read as one: the same light, a shared palette, and finishes that answer each other.

  19. Know which way your light comes

North light is cool and steady, south light warm and changing, and west light turns golden at dusk. Choose color in the light the room actually gets.

  20. Approve the sample on your wall

A sample in your own light, approved before we begin, is the surest way to love the result. The sample you approve is the wall you get.

  21. Touch-ups, years from now

We keep every color and formula on file, so a scuff, a new doorway, or the next room years from now can be matched to the walls you already love.

Questions we hear most

Is the design consultation free?

Yes. We visit your home, see your rooms in their own light, and plan the look with you at no charge. Custom finishes include up to two free sample boards; other samples can be purchased.

Would I need to hire multiple contractors for my complex remodel?

No. You never need several contractors for different surfaces: we do the interior painting and the plaster, build the built-ins, set up the lighting, and repair wall and trim damage, all with perfect prep and immaculate cleanup, under one plan and one fixed quote. Our own trusted, vetted, and experienced employees do the work, with Greg or Gabriel on every job.

How long does a project take?

Signature features, such as fireplaces, backsplashes and range hoods, powder rooms, and feature walls, take three to five days on site once the work begins. Whole rooms and whole homes take longer, and we plan their schedule with you at your free consultation.

How disruptive is the work?

As little as we can make it. Perfect prep and immaculate cleanup are part of every job: before any finish is opened, we cover your floors and furniture and close off nearby surfaces with paper and plastic, and we leave each room cleaner than we found it.

Are your finishes safe for children, pets, and people with allergies?

Mineral finishes are typically a much gentler choice for a home. According to their makers’ technical data sheets, they are very low or zero VOC, and most are hypoallergenic and antimicrobial. When a job calls for it, we bring high-end ventilation, or take some painting tasks outside or to our studio, so the air in your home stays clean and smells fresh.

How do payments work?

Most projects are paid in three parts: 10 percent to hold your start date, another 40 percent before we begin, and the last 50 percent at the final walk-through. On larger projects, we can stage the payments as each part of the work is finished, so you pay in portions as you watch it come together. See where each investment starts, and what our five-year workmanship guarantee covers.

Which areas do you serve?

We are based in Zionsville, Indiana, and serve Zionsville, Whitestown, Carmel (including West Clay), Westfield, Noblesville, Fishers, Geist, McCordsville, Fortville, Lebanon, and Brownsburg, as well as Indianapolis, including Downtown, Broad Ripple, and Meridian-Kessler. We are happy to travel farther for portfolio-worthy projects.

How do we get started?
